ABSA Devco appointed Lidwala Consulting Engineers in December 2004 to carry out the Civil and Structural design and construction supervision. The project entailed the design of storm water attenuation facilities which formed an integral focal point for the theme of the development, includes the design of gatehouse access facilities and communal recreational clubhouse facilities all within a secure village concept.


Vaal De Gracé Development, Gauteng

Lidwala Consulting Engineers were appointed by Knightsbridge Financial Services for the Geotechnical Investigation for the township establishment as well as the Civil and Structural design and construction supervision of the golf estate civil infrastructure and residential dwellings structural requirements.


2010 FIFA World Cup Ka-Nyamazane Stadium Upgrade, Mbombela Municipality, Mpumalanga

Client: Ehlanzeni District Municipality

Scope of Services: Civil Engineering

Lidwala Consulting Engineers were appointed as Engineers to oversee the design and construction of the soccer pitch and athletics track, replacement of the four 25 meter high 20 lux flood lights with 35 meter 500 Lux flood lights, renovation of the change rooms and ticketing offices, addition of three new ablution blocks and a VIP lounge.

The redesign of the stadium included

  • a new grassed athletics track, all enclosed around a 2.1 meter high fence with sixteen 2meter wide emergency gates and one 6meter emergency vehicle entrance gate.
  • Gulf green grass over-seeded with rhye grass forms the final texture of the pitch, same quality as pitches in all the other participating stadiums.
  • A new irrigation system was installed to irrigate both the pitch and track and a Shelton subsurface drainage system was installed to effectively drain the pitch and allow matches to proceed even after a storm.

Standard pitch accessories were acquired under this contract. They included fully welded aluminium goals, two mobile goals, four goal nets, four corner flags and two sideline flags, study aluminium forth official, substitute and paramedic benches.

Lidwala Consulting Engineers were appointed by the developer Spitskop Village Properties Limited to execute the professional services regarding the design of civil and electrical (bulk supply) engineering infrastructure and internal services for the proposed residential township.

Nkonjaneni Water Borne Sewer, Mpumalanga

Scope of Services: Design of water borne sewerage, toilet structures, outfall sewer and pump station

Lidwala Consulting Engineers were appointed to provide the following services:

  • Full time construction supervision

The Nkonjaneni township is located within the Mkondo Local Municipality near the town of Piet Retief. The Mkondo Local Municipality. The project aims to provide the Nkonjaneni township with water borne sewer services as well as 255 toilet structures.

During construction the Municipality aimed to provide local enterprises and local labour with a substantial portion of work, provide training to local labourers and emerging entrepreneurs, and to use labour intensive methods and to execute the work with a high degree of safety
