The Cedar Lakes complex is a security village with a mix of residential I and II erven. It is situated in Fourways Johannesburg and provides an open lifestyle living concept. Integrating open spaces with the storm water management system by incorporating flood retention earth-dams, which also serve as recreation facilities for activities such as fishing, bird watching, canoeing and kayaking, thus achieving an open country living lifestyle.
The project involved the conceptual and detail design of the storm water management facilities namely, a series of interconnected earth dams and overflow structures, which, when combined with a network of silt traps, subsoil drains and existing boreholes, achieved a sustainable series of lakes, which successfully created the desired environment. The design also included the provision of all essential civil services namely, roads, sewer, water and Telkom reticulation to the 730 residential erven, as well as the complex access and clubhouse facilities.
