Lidwala Consulting Engineers were approached to assist with an investigation and the reporting on the current status of the bulk water infrastructure in the Bushbuckridge area and specifically the Hoxane and Inyaka schemes. The objective was to find the reasons for water not reaching the intended reservoirs which in turn are feeding the various reticulations in the villages in spite of various infrastructure projects being implemented.
An initial site investigation on a portion of the total area was conducted and liaison took place with the various stakeholders and community and feedback received, processed and summarised. A report detailing the findings was prepared and submitted to all affected stakeholders.
A follow up investigation in the wider Bushbuckridge area by various teams took place and the collated data was processed. A comprehensive report with the outcomes and recommendations was prepared and submitted.
A further 27 villages, where reticulation projects are currently taking place were identified for detailed additional investigations to ascertain the existence of bulk water and or infrastructure. To date seven villages have been completed and Lidwala has been instructed to proceed with the preparation of contract documentation and appointment of a contractor for the remedial works at the seven villages. Investigation of the remainder of villages is ongoing and will be treated similar.
